Shades of Legend by Drazer434
I have conversed with ice dragons in the endless ice fields. I visited the lost temple of Al'Anin and survived. I escaped from the catacombs of Klaeth-Dorn with my sanity intact. I have many names. Minstrel. Bard. Poet. I am Fiothe.

While the author expresses dissatisfaction with the limited space fictionpress offers for summaries, I found their summary pretty gripping. It certainly appealed to me and was definitely why I gave it a read through.
The prologue (The Irony of Victory) throws you straight into the heart of a battle, with Denzin, a cripple and a Fae, coming out the victor before dying himself. It's captivating with rich descriptions of blood, wounds, and fighting. This battle becomes legend, a story told to children.
Drazer434's writing style is excellent. While a few people have commented a dislike to the author's "thesaurus heavy" prose I love the overly descriptive narrative. So many stories these days are bland and have little to no description at all. It's a refreshing and likeable change. I'm aware I may be a little biased here, being an overly descriptive writer myself.
One particular line in this story I love is: "He was the Black Bard. He walked on clouds. Below him the world burned."
The down side to this story is that it hasn't been updated in just over a year, however the author is very much still writing so there's always the possibility of its return in the future.
