I Never Said I Was Brave by lookingwest
A change is as good as a rest.
Rated M.
Nominated.
Status: In-complete.
From the very first sentence lookingwest (Emily, S, Lundgren) drags you into the scene. The description of people is amazing, including tiny details that I revel in and yet never thought to include in my own writing.
The world lookingwest has created is described through narrative in small doses. It's rare to find an un-published author that describes the world without information dumps. She's created a world filled to the brim with witches, vampires, shape-shifters, and magic all twirling around humans in true supernatural style.
I'm personally in-love with the style of prose and voice of the characters. The slightly stiff, formal dialogue is the only negative I see in this story, but who am I to complain about how they speak in this other world?
I Never Said I Was Brave has previously been nominated and found the winner of both La Campanella's and SKoW's writing competitions. So, if you are a supernatural fan, you would be a fool not to read it.
